6 Niger Street, Porirua

The Kainga Ora residential development at 3 & 5 Niger Street, Porirua aims to provide high-quality housing options for the local community. The 18 new dwellings are part of the second stage of work in the area and comprise a range of sizes from one-bedroom to five-bedroom homes.

Miyamoto collaborated closely with Studio Pacific Architecture and Nspire Architecture to provide structural engineering design. The challenge of coordinating between consultants for a job of this scale was met head-on by our Engineers to ensure a smooth and successful project process.

Our team performed refined site wind speed analyses which allowed us to identify areas where portal frames were unnecessary, leading to cost savings without compromising on safety or efficiency.

The new buildings achieved a minimum 6 Homestar rating, which ensures a high level of energy efficiency, comfort, and health for occupants for years to come.
