Four Winds, Sumner, Christchurch

Four Winds by Borrmeister Architects won a Housing award in the 2022 Canterbury Architecture Awards. It was praised by the judges for “… centering the house around landscaped courtyards, a swimming pool and gardens, this seaside home blurs the transition between inside and out, maximising its coastal location and hillside surroundings.”

Miyamoto provided structural design to the project, working to meet the architectural requirements to have a minimal impact on the site, including a very strong Maxraft fully insulated slab foundation. As a result, the house is highly resilient and incredibly well insulated.
